Quote
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland police say they found five ropes hanging from trees in a busy city park. The mayor referred to them as nooses Wednesday and said they were being investigated as a hate crime.

...

Victor Sengbe, who is black, told KGO-TV that he put the ropes up for exercise and for fun.

“Out of the dozen and hundreds and thousands of people that walked by, no one has thought that it looked anywhere close to a noose. ... It was really a fun addition to the park that we tried to create,” Sengbe said.

“It’s unfortunate that a genuine gesture of just wanting to have a good time got misinterpreted into something so heinous," he told the station.

...

[Mayor Libby Schaaf] said officials “have to start with the assumption that these are hate crimes. ... If they are proven not to be, that will then exonerate that person.”

So guilty until proven innocent.  Welcome to Salem, 1692.

In the same way we assume that looting and vandalism are terroristic actions until they are proven to be peaceful protests.

I'd lay odds that this is another hate crime hoax.

I would call that a knot at the end of a rope, not a noose. Some people can only see what they want to see.

Does anyone remember the last one of these that was proven to be real and done by a white KKK guy?

I first thought this was an Onion or Babylon Bee article.  Are we all residing in Purgatory?

And that was almost three years ago. Purgatory, supposedly, can last hundreds or thousands of years. So this may take a while.

Actually that was suppose to read "I remember"
But it may have worked better without the "I"

We're living in a Monty Python skit, basically the same thing.
