Well, somebody does. Thieves stole a 58 foot pedestrian bridge.

Just guessing, but... extruded aluminum?
Someone's got themselves some rocks by now...

Ummmm,.... Ben....? Ahhhh.... Didn't you have a bridge problem on that new property lately?
Just askin', mind you... just askin'.

My upcoming bridge delivery and this story have absolutely nothing in common.

That was my guess. The poor pic in the article looked like aluminum. It still seemed pretty bold since they had to disassemble the thing and drag the pieces into a truck. Gotta take a couple hours for all that.
-
He also mentioned how the bridge is connected with bolts and a little work and effort could dismantle the bridge easily.
“Essentially the bridge is made of some sort of polymer. It’s connected by some bolts. If you have any equipment, sockets, and things of that nature, it wouldn’t have been very difficult at all to begin the process of disassembling that. It’s described as a big Lego-like device.”

If you look like your're supposed to be doing what you're doing, questions are rarely asked. All you need is a guy in blaze orange and a clipboard to stand around watching and occasionally scribbling on the clipboard to create this impression. It helps top pretend to talk into a walkie-talkie periodically. And the guys you hired to disassemble it and cart it away don't even have to be aware of the scam.
But apparently, the bridge wasn't actually being used, but was just parked somewhere after it was moved because of a wetland problem. My bet is that someone in actual authority ordered it to be removed as an eyesore and isn't even aware of the flap. (Or has a great sense of humor and is pretending to be unaware of it.)

Story says it was made of polymer.

So I did some Googling, and apparently fiber-reinforced polymer pedestrian bridges are indeed a thing. Very popular in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe.
-
So it looks like this bridge was made of polymer. Can anyone confirm that?
=D

I was just going by the picture in the article, which shows what looks like metal channels bolted together with no walkway on top. That may not even be "the" bridge in question.

This says they caught the guy who allegedly did it. He hired a crane to load it and they found it on his property. Doesn't mention why.

So a guy finds a bridge in the middle of the field and not seeing the use to it decides to scrap it.
I guess that would make this Chesterton's Bridge?
