Sort of:
https://dnyuz.com/2022/06/03/republican-congressman-quits-race-after-backlash-over-his-gun-stance/
He learned that gun control is not popular among Republicans ... so he abandoned his reelection campaign. What he DIDN'T learn is that pushing for more gun control isn't going to solve the problem of violence. He should be a Democrat -- he thinks passing more useless laws is "doing something."

But if you don't DO SOMETHING!!!, you don't care. ;/

“We have a problem in our country in terms of both our major parties. If you stray from a party position, you are annihilated,” Mr. Jacobs said. “For the Republicans, it became pretty apparent to me over the last week that that issue is gun control. Any gun control.”
Oh, cry me a river.
Party positions are - or at least they should be - heavily influenced by constituent positions. If you're not going to represent your constituents the way they WANT you to represent them, you SHOULD be (politically) annihilated. Particularly if you're too much of a dullard to understand what your constituents' positions are.

I'd like to hope Senate Republicans are paying attention.

The problem for them is that Trump isn't a Republican.
Hence, they are fervently anti-Trump.
Trump is a pragmatist. And he is basically a middle-of the road candidate. Neither Democrat nor Republican.
And they HATE that.
