It is only toasting on one side now. I may be taking it apart and doing some soldering, but more likely, I'll just Amazon a new one from their own brand - I don't see toasters very much at the thrift store circuit.
It was a Cuisinart that I got back in 2012, and paid $10 for.
I figure it has had a good and productive life.

Apparently it's now self-identifying as British.
They only toast their bread on one side, the monsters.

If it is just a 2-slice toaster, you can probably find one faster at Walfart and probably only about $12.

Try and find a new one that's NOT made in Communist China. And which costs less than $200. (that's to eliminate commercial restaurant models.)
Go ahead - I dare you.
Then let me know where you got it.
Please.

Best I could find was $300ish.

The headline lied to you.
This is like the third *expletive deleted*ing sentence in...
"Well, these toasters are not necessarily made in the US but conform to the standards and regulations for appliances marketed and sold in the USA."
So, who the hell knows where they're actually made.
And the very first one? The Cuisinart? Country of origin is... China.
