Cousin hits me on Facebook for a zoom call. I accept but cannot un-mute my microphone. He even tries "team share" is it where he remotely gets on my 'puter to check things out. No luck. Any suggestions?

You didn't say what ver of windows you have but in 11 go to Settings --> Privacy & Security and go down to App Permissions --> Microphone and see if zoom and/or the camera has permission to use the microphone.
W10 should be similar.
Plus if you're using a separated plug in mic like on a desktop make sure the mic is plugged into the mic and not the input jack, they are different.

Thanks WLJ. Pretty sure we tried all that last week. The mic is built in the Lenova laptop. I'll go back and run down the aps.

I have a new-to-me Lenovo Thinkpad with Windows 11. I searched for Zoom and it said I had the app but when I clicked on it it was no longer supported (a Chrome plugin, perhaps?) I downloaded Zoom Meeting and installed that, signed on, and started a meeting with just me. Ran the audio and mic tests and they worked without having to mess with any security settings. I did find the security setting WLJ mentioned to give permission for the microphone but it was already enabled.

So much for Windows updates. I have Windows set to update Windows and Microsoft apps. Just tried to open Zoom to see where the microphone settings are, and it wouldn't open until I agreed to allow it to update.
Typical Microsoft.
