If the church is well & truly independent of any associations or oversight, the potential for CoP baloney is tenfold.
Well, there's a local mainstreet baptist church that technically belongs to a major baptist organization, but when we had problems (yes, a CoP - i.e. abusive charismatic pastor) they basically refused to do anything. Sort of a "hands-off" approach.
The other church that I mentioned, while definitely fitting the CoP model, was also under a larger organization that approved and encouraged such teachings and behavior. Strangely enough, since that time that whole organization has merged with the Orthodox Church
I have seen articles similar to that before. I always thought it was pretty sad.
Yes. Very sad, very infuriating.
I think the one thing in this world I can't stand the most is abuse of women, elders, and children.
