I think I'd like to add another line to my .sig. I see some Arabic on THR and here, and if anyone knows how to say and/or write "Armed Jew" in Arabic, i'd love to see it so I could possibly add it...
Thanks!

Actually that says,
Bush Sucks. Obama in '08!
-
You can get the translation here.
-
يهودي مسلح, مزود بالسِح, مدعوم بالقوة المسلح
Google returns the translation of that as
"Jewish armed with a Balsh, backed armed force"
-
Jewish armed with a Balsh, backed armed force

If the computer-based translation is this bad, no wonder the State Department needs more Arabic speakers.
"Sir, Google says the terrorist's letter says that they "will destroy us with our own potatoes.""
"Move all response assets to Idaho!"
-
Yikes. Google 'balsh' and check the urbandictionary meaning
-
I do not think you want that in your sig!
-
Oh wow, that translation is pretty "dafouk"
Looking forward to a good translation of "חמוש יְהוּדִי" (Or "יהודי חמוש"?)

I'm pretty sure you want to say "יהודי חמוש. Your version means "Jewish munitions." Presumably and armed Jew would of course carry Jewish arms, though.

Thanks, as you can tell my hebrew is rustier than I'd like.
-
Actually it could be either.
It could also mean "one-fifth Jewish." I guess that's nice to know, but sort of irrelevant.
-
Is it possible to be one-fifth Jewish?

If it is, I don't understand how. AFAIK, you're not Jewish unless your mother is Jewish; doesn't matter about your father. So either your mother is Jewish or she isn't. If she isn't, you're not either.

Is it possible to be one-fifth of any ethnic heritage?

No, you can only be a dyadic number--a number of the form n/m^2 where n<m^2. If you check, you'll convince yourself quickly that you can be any dyadic number, and only dyadic numbers.
On the other hand, dyadic numbers are dense in [0, 1], so you can get as close to 1/5 as you like, without actually equaling 1/5.

EDIT: I fixed the definition above; the original version contained a typo.
-
Len, you just blew 1/5 of a hole in my head.

Also see Rashi on the opening of Shemos s.v. chamushim.

Sorry. I was offline looking for a good approximation of one-fifth. 25/128 is within .005; you can get that concentration in different ways, but the one with fewest Jewish ancestors is: 1/8 + 1/16 + 1/128. So you could get there with a Jewish great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and great-great-great-great-great-grandmother.

Ok, back on topic...
I think THIS is how you say "Armed Jew" in Arabic:
المحارب المقدسة اسوأ كابوس

رمايه يهودي
Comes out to "Shooting Jew" So I think I might use that until someone tells me different.
So much for that, someone just told me grammatically it means, "shooting jews" like, to shoot them, so back to the drawing board

This is almost as funny as guys who get oriental characters tattooed on their bodies. I always wonder if the tattoo artist just used his Chinese take-out menu and all those guys are wandering around with, "Kung Pao Chicken" and "Twice-cooked Pork" written in their skin.
I'd be REALLY wary of using non-Roman characters as a calling card.

A coworker recently told me about an office where a woman got Chinese characters tattooed on her neck. An office mate, who didn't much like her, asked why she'd tattooed "pork" on herself. She claimed it meant "divine mystery" or some such. He responded by showing her a (photoshopped) menu, and sure enough, every pork dish had her tattoo in it...

From my meager, almost nonexistant understanding if the language, you may find it easier to translate "Jew with gun" or "Jew with weapons".
