Wow, crazy. Also throw in H. W. as veep and we have some significant years...
...not that I care really. It was just sort of a "Hunh, no way!" moment when I read the article.

Americans love an Aristocracy. Since we don't have folks of noble/titled birth of or our own we create a nobility thru other means.
Probably has something to do with the dilution of our pioneer heritage, the urbanization of the populace as a whole and the wussification of men.
