Title: CD storage

What is a good way to store CDs to keep them from scratches and the like? Is it best to keep them in a jewel box, or in a binder or folder of some kind?

I put mine in hardshell binders and put them away after ripping them.
Jewel cases explode into bits if you look at them wrong, seems like.

About the same. I make a copy to play from, then store the original away in its factory case.

I work with gaming CD's (many are copy protected... and some have the activation code permanently attached to the jewel cases...
I usually put them in a binder, and then keep the empty boxes in plastic cube boxes that are stackable...

Spools! We go through a lot of CDRs, and eventually all our discs migrated to spools. I've also found that keeping them on your case in a stack will keep them in good shape (IE, an isolated, safe place).

I used to always keep the cases in the drawer type CD holders. Went to binders for all my CDs and DVDs a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. I freakin' cleared at least 20% of the space around my computer, TV, and stereo doing that, and for me, it's way easier to find the disc I'm looking for in the binders versus thumbing through cases in a drawer.
I keep some of the thin flexible cases around for transporting discs when needed.

How do you scratch a CD as to make it unuseable? I mean, it's made of paper, and the bank is sure to have records of it...

Thanks folks. I have been keeping my CDs in binders for a few years, now. I'm finding that a lot of them skip, now. Perhaps I should clean my CD players more often?

If you know it's not from your CD handling techniques, are your storage binders specifically for discs? The ones I have all have a "non-scratch" material for the backside of the disc. I reckon that doesn't help for double-sided discs though.
