Title: Mt. St. Helens
Post by: Unisaw on March 08, 2005, 08:15:45 PM
Did anyone on this board see Mt. St. Helens go into action today?  I have seen film on TV but would be very interested in any first-hand observations.

Nice detailed accounts of what it's been doing. I particulary enjoy the subtle understated way they say "Growth of the new lava dome inside the crater of Mount St. Helens continues". A calm way of saying, oh bugger.

WA: Not the 1980 eruption.  I'm talking about yesterday's steam and ash eruption.

Ain't no big thing.
Try some of the websites for Portland, OR TV stations.  KATU TV has some good digital photos and video stories on their website, www.katu.com.

You want a real volcano, google for "yellowstone supervolcano".  The ultimate SHTF/TEOTWAWKI scenario.

Saint Helens is far from being over.... and could go big time again....  I flew over the mountain, a few years ago, and to discribe how it looked by air, is impossible... you could see something massive took place, and even from far above, it sent out all the red flags.... a most amazing and sobering sight !!!

Here is a link that has some great photos:

This is a big deal for me.  I only recently moved to the Northwest -- we didn't have volcanoes in Virginia!

Unisaw.... if your going to live in the west....you keep a SHTF bag packed ALL the time, and the question is when you use it, not if.
