Title: My beard smells like cheese.
Post by: Guest on September 27, 2005, 02:15:13 AM

It does again (now it's just a natty goatee). I got it wet and it's airdrying. As I stroke it, I notice that it smells very faintly of parmesan, or perhaps romano.

I am a very clean person and I wash any facial hair that I don't shave with soap.

This confuses me.

Maybe your fingers smell like cheese.

Try this simple test.
Stop touching your beard.
Now does it still smell like cheese?

If not, problem solved. Wash your hands.

Cheesy

Look on the bright side.

At least it doesn't smell like poop, right?

If that happened, you'd have a hard time getting folks here to even shake your hand.  Sad

Simple - don't stand near the cheese factory while drying your beard!

Fall asleep with your face in a pizza again?

My hands often smell like olive oil. But then again, I use it as a skin lotion, so no wonder...

Well, it rather makes sense if you think about it a bit.  What is cheese but partially decayed animal fat?  And what does the decaying?  Bacteria, and in some cases fungus.  The particular waste products of a bacteria strain give each cheese its smell and taste.  And no matter how much we may wash, thee is ALWAYs a bacterial population on our skin/hair.  Perahps one of your commensals/sybiotic skin strains is a cheese maker.

Depends on the odor.  If it's parmesan, start dating Italian women.  If it smells more like brie, go for the French ladies.
