1. how much do you think this is due to the worldwide economic slowdown?

2. Could our own government fail in any sort of similar way?

3. I wonder what happens now, it terms of what will replace the current government. Libertarian paradise?

Dream on, probably be replaced by some socialist government, people will get free things promised to them by not working for them and the socialist will be in like Flynn.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's Bush's fault. Everybody knows that.

"Government" in this case refers to the Prime Minister and his cabinet, not to the state as a whole.  The article says it was a "coalition government," meaning that no one party has a majority in Parliament, so a coalition of parties worked together to elect a "government."

"Government collapse" just means that the guys in charge lost the support of one or another of the parties that elected them.  They've got to hold elections, to see who will be the next Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, etc.  It's not as big a deal as it sounds like to our American ears.

We are no where near this level of failure yet.
Not enough loss of confidence in the paper money.
Not enough loss of confidence in the gov.
The obomatron is here to save the day!

It just did.  In European terms, Republican "government" collapsed in the Congress (in 2006), and in the White House (in 2008), to be replaced by a Democratic government.

I think our government has been failing since 1930. =D

Tactical Pants has the correct statement of fact, leaving me with mere snark.

Yes our government could really fail. If the Obama stimulus is approved, I suspect our government as we know it will be dead in two years.

Don't sell yourself short.  That may be more factual than either of us really want it to be.  :(
