Title: Am I shopping at Wal-Mart too much?
Post by: commygun on March 15, 2005, 02:57:45 PM
Now I know I'm not the Crown of Creation, but it seems to me that the world
is filling up with fools, knaves, slobs, the grotesquely self-indulgent, the ridiculous-
ly vain, and the stupefyingly ignorant at an incredible rate. Just an observation.
Is this misanthropic spleen or just part of the dissapointment of realizing my
newly purchased Buck Stockman was made in China?

Buck, Gerber, Schrade, and probably others used to make reasonably priced good quality knives that were made only in the USA. Not sure what it means about humanity now that they don't, but I know Schrade went under for some reason.

The $11 Gerber Multitool I bought at Wal-Mart says USA on the side.  The Buck 751 in my pocket says Taiwan.  The Springfield Tactical that is usually where my Buck is now, because I can't find it, says Solingen on the side.  Not quite America, but not quite Asian either.

How this relates to anything, I ahve no idea.
