Title: Pen show: Like a gun show, but with less crazy
Post by: BridgeRunner on November 05, 2009, 11:13:57 AM
I'm missing this one.

http://www.ohiopenshow.com/index.html (http://www.ohiopenshow.com/index.html)

Apparently, it is one of the best in the country.  It's also about five hours away, and I can't afford to buy anything anyway.  Well, except some paper which I need to buy anyway, and some ink, which is both fun and cheap.

There's a pen show in metro Detroit every September, but it's pretty tiny and mostly local.  The gun show comparison is not too far off.  Less political, to be sure, but the best parts of gun shows are people who appreciate fine tools and the stuff that go with them.  Pen shows tend to have a variety of obsessive personalities, from penmanship freaks to pen-turners and pen-tuners, and then there's people like me who are all about the paper and the ink.  Fun times.

This will be a sad weekend.  Maybe next year.

The pen is mightier than the sword. Pass the word.

Seriously: I'd go to a pen show if there were one within reasonable driving distance.

My boy in preschool is studying the letter "I" this week.

Thursdays (today) are "show & tell about something that starts with the letter of the week."

So, I sent him with an ink pen.

Nothing special:
Pilot G2 .38mm Black

I taught him how to disassemble it and what the parts are.

Next you should do timed field stripping and reassembly drills!

Pilot G2 .38mm Black

Is it wrong that when I read this, my first thought was ".38 is a caliber, you probably meant 9mm, duh.   And I've never even heard of a Pilot handgun, much less a black one chambered in .38...and what does this have to do with giving your son an ink pen for show-and-tell?"

It's been a long week.  Since this morning.

Too bad there isn't one here in WA. My wife would go bonkers about getting to attend.

just that every time i go in one i leave with a lot less money and lots of stickers and markers and pretty stuff that most people use for to make pretty things and i just let collect dust for the most part. but hey, if you ever need some beads, or stickers or an entire rainbow of colors, just give me a call.
