Title: A minor Faux pas....
Post by: Scout26 on February 13, 2017, 11:27:04 AM
At the Fed Cup Tennis match, the singer goes ahead with the first (banned since the end of WWII) verse of the German National Anthem.  (The Deutschland Uber alles verse.)  The current German National Anthem is the 3rd verse of the song that Hayden and Fallersleben wrote.

Needless to say, hilarity did not ensue....

Trump's fault.

Seems to be the gist of several comments, because, obviously, the singer's entire education happened in the last couple of weeks.

Are Americans supposed to know this about the German national anthem? I've never heard this before.

You would think that someone hired to sing the song would be able to figure out the correct version to use.

I didn't know it, either, but I can't imagine it's hard to find current renditions of the German National Anthem to use as source material.

Anyway, I'm betting the blame can be laid more on Man In The High Castle than Trump.  ;/

Please forgive me. I'm reacting to the word "ignorance." If stupidity is at work, that's different.

I know nothing about that High Castle show, either.  =)
