Note the movie posters at around the 2:12 mark.

Yeah, I saw the poster.

And I recommend using pause to read Deadpool's books synopsis at the end.

The first movie was ruined by cheap, gross-out sex jokes. I guess this next one will be ruined by old man getting gut-shot and left to die jokes?

I liked the part where he was making fun of Jackman.

Fistful, the movies aren't ruined by those things. Those things are what makes those movies work. You just aren't the kind of person who appreciates Deadpool in all his glory.

I demand all movies be made to my tastes! Right now!

I'm sure Hollywood will get right to it just as soon as they finish chastising the rest of America for voting for Trump.

At first, the synopsis of The Old Man and the Sea seemed quite random, but some sources claim there are parallels between it and the plot of Logan.

I have not seen Logan so I can't confirm/deny.

In all fairness, I'm pretty sure the high minded political minds of Hollyweird cannot understand why Deadpool does so well and hate America for it.

I think Hollywood actually does understand that they've become an arm of the comic book industry (or I guess it's the other way around), and that Deadpool is all about that. That, and abusing the fourth wall.

There was one reviewer who complained about Deadpool's box office success, due to the fact that this would mean more movies that actually attract an audience, as opposed to the crap that panders to people who don't really consume much in the way of pop culture, not even out of loyalty to the people pandering to them. Just need to watch what happened to Ghostbusters at the box office.

I was kind of shocked that this was a big deal. From taking my kids to see a re-release of it in the theater when they were little, I got the impression the bully-Gaston guy's little toadie was implied as being probably gay and in love with him in the original 90's animated version. (shrug)

Well, now I feel stupid. I had seen the headline and assumed the gay character would be Luminar.

Whatever. There's plenty of gay in Disney. The only difference is now a days they can actually just say it.

He always seemed to be overcompensating a bit with his feather duster girlfriend.

That's because our culture has decided that any expression of affection between two people (regardless of their respective sex) means sexual attraction, mainly because our culture (for all it's claims about "freedom") is absolutely obsessed with sex.

Admiration (even slobbering admiration, like from LeFou) has long been a part of society: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVNHcob3oJg (I could have linked to more heroic things all the way back to Greeks and Romans, but rather than step into THAT argument, I picked a more clear example.)

Of course, today, the little dog is clearly just gay. Because everything is about sex.

Don't forget Bert & Ernie, David & Johnathon, etc.

And now we must indoctrinate the children early-on to think the gay is OK. Anyone who disagrees with that is a deviant, and should undergo conversion therapy.

Perhaps Deadpool 2 will parody gay Disney characters as well as superhero movies.

The real question is will it involve some bad guy threatening his girlfriend.  Because superhero movies are notoriously hard on superhero girlfriends.  Or will she become a mutant also?

In my defense, I'm dealing with an ear infection.

Metal it is.

I was talking with my friend in Iowa the other day about DP2.

Dave has seen DP1, but his son hasn't (the one who is graduating high school in a few days).

So, we're going to rent DP1 and IMMEDIATELY go see DP2.

That should put everyone in the right mood for the graduation ceremony!

The official film synopsis, as pulled from rotten tomatoes and others:

Quote
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.

Its on IMDB, too.

Thread necro because I finally got around to watching it tonight. Yep, it was good. The movie was even more gross, outlandish, and unhinged in pretty much every way than than DP1.

I got the unrated version which has an extra 15 minute running time.  Dunno how it compared to the theatrical version but I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the in-jokes and third wall breaks. I thought they were damned funny but also a lot over-the-top.

Also, the epilogue scenes... oh muh gerd!! I haven't laughed that hard in a long, long time.

It was good, but I was slightly disappointed, to be honest.

I loved Yukio, though.

I found it funnier than the first one, but not as good of a movie.
