I promise this will not bother you to look at. Go ahead, it's fine. Trust me.

Drumming fingers on table waiting for other victims.

Level of trust 4/10.

Switching to another thread for a while.

Pic of Australian funnel web spider.

Scientists estimate spiders eat 400 to 800 million TONS of prey each year.  Roughly the same amount that humans consume in meat.  (They were able to confirm that spiders have NOT master fire, therefore they also do not BBQ nor smoke their prey.)

Also if you live in NC, there is a 100% chance you have spiders in your home.  There's also a 75% chance they live in your bedroom.

You all are welcome.

Is that really a fact about spiders or just another indicator of how many bugs and insects there are which the spiders are eating.

ITs' also about the total weight of human kind.  So theoretically, spiders could eat the entire human population.

More fun facts:

Quote
For instance, one study estimated that global average spider density stands at about 131 spiders per square meter
.

Quote
Conversely, it would take approximately 2,000 pounds of spiders to consume a 200-pound man in one day.

In the end, spiders’ voracity actually works out to mankind’s benefit. Since they primarily feast on bugs, their hunger means fewer pests in the garden, fewer mosquitoes in the yard and fewer flies in the house.

It's easy to find spiders.

If I go out after dark with a flashlight and shine it across my lawn, I see a number of reflective points of light - most of them with a faint greenish tinge.

Those are NOT dewdrops - a little investigation reveals that those are spider eyes.
