Title: Time for a Trump accomplishment list?
Post by: just Warren on July 05, 2017, 01:35:07 AM
You remember when we had the stickied Obama scandal list?

In that vein we need a list for all the things that Trump is doing that seem to be flying under the leftists\media radar.

Perhaps we could include a fake scandal list also.   =)

His most singular accomplishment is actually sufficient for a "list" all by itself.

He makes liberals wet their diapers.

2.  His unapologetic rhetoric is actually causing leftist liberals to be honest about their goals and intentions.

3.  Trump has brought some sanity to our immigration policies which has created at least a perception of stricter border enforcement.

4.  Cleaning House at the State Department.

I figured this was as good a place as any to start.  Which thread had that list posted?

I am not sure if we want to attach article or thread links to all these.

The President has been busy ... this list is a couple weeks old ...  Popcorn

1) #HePersisted.
Yes, the US is officially withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord. He has also stopped payment to the Green Climate Fund.

2) Here come the judges!
President Trump has used the Reid rule and the Republican congress to appoint a slew of conservative judges.

3) The Art of the Re-deal.
President Trump has hit the reset button on the odious agreement that our former president made with the dictatorship of Cuba. He will retain the embassy for leverage. Additionally, he withdrew from the Trans Pacific Partnership and is looking to get better terms for this country under the North American Free Trade Agreement.

4) The return of our political prisoners.
Aya Hijazi and Otto Warmbier were languishing in foreign prisons during the Obama administration. They are now reunited with their families.

5) The Apprentice, White House Edition.
President Trump signed an executive order to expand apprenticeships and vocational training to help all Americans, offering an alternative to the progressive college educational pathway that has undermined the success of an entire generation.

6) Trump shatters a ceiling….with the stock market.
President Trump hasn’t allowed the press-induced political dramas to distract him from engaging with business leaders and implementing policies that actually help the American economy. The stock market’s record highs are a vote of confidence.

7) Trump ends the Y2K crisis.
The President ordered the end to record-keeping related to the preparedness for a bug that afflicted some computers at the turn of the century.

Cool Regulations are now on the endangered species list.
The key to many wins on this list, and likely all the future lists that I will need to make, is that President Trump and his team are focused on ending regulations, rather than mending them or allowing them to breed unchecked.

9) Illegal border crossings have plummeted.
The number of attempts to illegally cross the southern border have dropped each month for the past 6 months, and President Trump gives no indication of his changing policies.

10) ICE ices violent gangs.
President Trump promised that his immigration policy priority would be the deportation of violent gang members, and Immigration and Customs enforcement is working to decapitate the worst of them: MS13.

11) Classic energy sources are making a return.
A new mine has opened up in Pennsylvania, while Obama-backed green energy companies go bankrupt.

12) American companies are now “in-sourcing” jobs.
Lowering regulatory burdens and fuel prices has meant that manufacturing plants are beginning to come back to both coasts and the Midwest. In fact, the business climate is so improved that some foreign companies are now planning to outsource to the U.S.

13) Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
Bonus: The nuclear option was deployed, ending the 60 vote requirement the next time President Trump nominates a Supreme Court Justice candidate.

14) Over 800,000 jobs created.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that the labor market under President Trump has added over 810,000 jobs in his first five months.

Trouble w/ listing his accomplishments is as soon as a list is compiled it's out of date ...

(1) Signed an executive order making it easier to fire or punish VA executives who screw up.
(2) Rolled back more destructive government regulations than any president in history.
(3) Got rid of the secret Department of Justice slush fund that was used to support partisan political groups.
(4) Persuaded the Saudis to share their most secret military intelligence with us.
(5) Decreased the national debt by over $100 billion.
(6) Persuaded defense contractors to cut their prices by as much as a third.
(7) Cut illegal immigration (in terms of those caught at the border) by 67 percent.
Trump's 1st Qtr. Salary to Go to Fix Antietam Battlefield
(9) Persuaded NATO members to up their contributions by $10 billion.
(10) Created a commission to examine and assess weakness in the voting process.
(11) Signed an executive order holding the heads of federal agencies
personally responsible for the cybersecurity of their networks.
(12) Created the American Technology Council to upgrade US digital services.
(13) Issued an executive order protecting whistle blowers in Veterans' Administration.
(14) Signed two executive orders requiring a review of the deficit and punishing foreign countries that "dump" in the US market.
(15) Created a commission to fight prescription drug abuse.
(16) Removed Obama-era regulations that prevent public schools from firing inept and abusive teachers.
(17) Greatly reduced the power of the Bureau of Land Management to take over public lands owned by states.
(18) Signed two bills encouraging government science departments to strengthen their outreach to women.
(19) Signed an executive order directing federal agencies to evaluate existing regulations.
(20) Signed an executive order directing the Department of justice to review existing laws protecting police officers.
(21) Created a federal task force that will share information among agencies and come up with strategies to fight crimes.
(22) Signed an executive order prioritizing efforts to fight criminal organizations that engage in human trafficking.
(23) Signed an executive order mandating that for every new law impacting businesses, two must be repealed.

President Trump continues to get political mileage out of his move to exit the 2015 Paris climate accord. In a massive snub to the international climate movement, as well as to his German host, Trump won the war of words in the G20 leaders’ declaration issued Saturday from Hamburg:

“We take note of the decision of the United States of America to withdraw from the Paris Agreement. The United States of America announced it will immediately cease the implementation of its current nationally-determined contribution and affirms its strong commitment to an approach that lowers emissions while supporting economic growth and improving energy security needs.”

This is a huge blow to the ruling climate alliance that has tried to bully America into abiding by the Paris pact, which President Obama signed but the Senate never ratified.

It's not quite happened yet but ICE might start arresting those in charge of sanctuary cities on human smuggling charges. (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jul/26/thomas-homan-ice-chief-says-immigrant-sanctuaries-/)

Illegal border crossings down 76%. (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/may/9/illegal-immigration-southwest-border-down-70-pct/)

And I know some illegals are self-deporting but I can't find any stats on that.

Unemployment is at it's lowest in 17 years and wages are up yet:   (https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/03/business/economy/jobs-report.html)

Quote
Considering the tight labor market, with unemployment at its lowest level since Bill Clinton was president, many economists say the dividends have been paltry.

“It’s certainly trending the right way, but it’s surely still unexciting — even unacceptable — wage growth at this point,” said Dan North, chief economist at Euler Hermes North America.

Trump Is Rapidly Reshaping the Judiciary. Here’s How.

Quote
Nearly a year later, that plan is coming to fruition. Mr. Trump has already appointed eight appellate judges, the most this early in a presidency since Richard M. Nixon, and on Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines to send a ninth appellate nominee — Mr. Trump’s deputy White House counsel, Gregory Katsas — to the floor.

Republicans are systematically filling appellate seats they held open during President Barack Obama’s final two years in office with a particularly conservative group of judges with life tenure. Democrats — who in late 2013 abolished the ability of 41 lawmakers to block such nominees with a filibuster, then quickly lost control of the Senate — have scant power to stop them.

Problem is that the GOP establishment are willing to cut their own nose off to spite their face.
They would rather hand control back to the democrat party than let Trump succeed.
My current prediction is that the 2018elections  will yield a dem controlled house and Senate.
January 2019 will bring us impeachment proceedings.

I agree with all this except the last. History alone indicates that at least one or the other, house and senate, flip. The fact that the GOPe is practically working with the dems on that make it a much higher probability. I'm willing to bet 25% of the GOPe voted for Clinton because that's how much they hated an outsider getting in.

On the impeachment, I think if dems win one or both houses, impeachment will fall by the wayside (except for the nutballs like Waters, etc.) because it would take away from the dem agenda at a time that they have some power. One thing the dems are very good at is running a cohesive front (At least in congress. Obviously thanks to Queen Hillary, there was little cohesiveness in their presidential campaign). Even now, establishment dems, including Pelosi, Schumer, and Feinstein, are trying to downplay impeachment because the distraction monkey wrenches their strategy.

I REALLY hope Mr. Moore wins.*

Because, if he does, the reason he is in the Senate is the exact same reason that Trump is in the White House: his opponents kneecapped the "respectable" conservatives, thinking he'd be a pushover to beat... and then  got their rears handed to them (McConnell and his ilk) when their candidate had to face just one "unelectable" candidate. Who got elected.

*On the accusations, I have no idea if they are true and honestly, I don't think I will ever know if they are true. Rather frighteningly, even if true, while creepy and wrong, nothing in them approaches what others in the Senate (or lionized by the Senate) have done.

After looking back at the timeline and timing of the allegations and the response from the GOPe It wouldn't surprise me that the attack is coming from the GOPe.
I don't know much about Moore but he is not a new comer to the scene in Alabama. He has been in the spotlight for years. Why did these women suddenly choose to accuse him now? Why not when he was a controversial judge? Why not when he was a primary candidate?
Nope, they waited until he was the official candidate and it was too late to change the ballot.
I kind of hope he wins.

This and what BTR said.  It isn't a full 6 year term anyway.

Also, I would love to see McConnell put on the spot since he or others talked about the Senate not allowing him in or trying to expel him.  If Menendez is still there, that would be interesting.

Has Moore been proven to have done anything illegal? Chasing young women is more than a bit creepy (if true), but not illegal in and of itself. At least Moore hasn't (apparently) killed anyone. MILLIONS WILL DIE!!!!!

No, scratch that. Thousands, or maybe hundreds. Because everybody else died from the last three things.

I thought that Democrats couldn't shock me anymore, but I'm absolutely bewildered by the constant chicken little running around with "PEOPLE WILL DIE! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXWhbUUE4ko)" about everything Trump does.

That video was supposed to be parody.

Now, I'm not that old, but I can never remember such over the top hyperbole about everything. I know about the Daisy ad, but my impression is that was an outlier. It seems every Democrat (elected or in the media) is all death, all the time.

NET NEUTRALITY is one of the worst. Reversing it is a minor change, that benefits ISPs (probably) and (probably) harms even larger corporations (Google, Facebook). Yet, somehow it's the absolute worst thing to ever happen in the history of the internet.

Anyone else remember a time like this before?

I thought that Democrats couldn't shock me anymore, but I'm absolutely bewildered by the constant chicken little running around with "PEOPLE WILL DIE! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXWhbUUE4ko)" about everything Trump does.

That video was supposed to be parody.

Yes, those were included in my "like this" question.  :P

Incidentally, I'm actually concerned about what is going to happen when he's re-elected. My wife told me over lunch that she saw people on facebook calling for attacks on the rich- as in, literal, attack them and take their stuff type calls.

Now, the current screeching point is "CHIP" the Child Health Insurance Plan, for the children of parents that can't afford Obamacare plans.

Which there shouldn't be any because, Obamacare was supposed to give everyone "Healthcare".

Fake news. Everyone knows the real acronym for Obamacare is ACA, and the 'A' in ACA stands for "affordable." Ergo: there should not be anyone who can't "afford" Obamacare. Oxymoron.

The New York Times doesn't like Trump's approach to international relations:

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/28/us/politics/trump-world-diplomacy.html?mtrref=www.drudgereport.com&gwh=261EFA6B78058D4807EE6122CDC93249&gwt=pay

That must mean he's doing something right.

Quote
While Mr. Trump has held more than 130 meetings and phone calls with foreign leaders since taking office, he has left the rest of the world still puzzling over how to handle an American president unlike any other. Foreign leaders have tested a variety of techniques to deal with him, from shameless pandering to keeping a studied distance.

Most foreign leaders are still trying to get a handle on him,” said Richard N. Haass, a top State Department official in the George W. Bush administration who is now the president of the Council on Foreign Relations. “Everywhere I go, I’m still getting asked, ‘Help us understand this president, help us navigate this situation.’

I always thought being unpredictable was a good thing. It keeps our enemies guessing.

Quote
“We’re beginning to see countries take matters into their own hands. They’re hedging against America’s unreliability.”

Personally, I'm tired of the United States being the world's policeman. Maybe it's time (or long past time) for other countries to carry their own laundry.

Overall, according to a new CNN poll this week, Trump’s numbers are rising in every category regardless of geography; 57 percent say things are going well in the country now, the highest rating since 2007. The upbeat mood of the electorate is astonishing considering the unrelenting assault the president has been under since November 2016.

What happened after 2007 to lower people's opinion of how things are going in the country? And why things are better now?

There's got to be some reason. But what?

Quote from: From the above link
Cutting Rules: Baseball season is winding down and, as it does, so is another grueling annual event: The U.S. government's fiscal year. But this year, with just two months to go, something remarkable is happening: Regulations are being slashed at a record rate.

A new report by the American Action Forum (AAF) says that not only is President Trump meeting his deregulation goals, he's exceeding them — in some cases, by a large amount.

"Collectively, executive agencies subject to regulatory budget remain on pace to double the administration's overall saving goal," wrote the AAF's Dan Bosch. "On an individual basis, 12 of 22 agencies have already met or surpassed their savings target."

"The Department of Labor enjoys the largest total savings of covered agencies with $417.2 million," Bosch wrote. "The Department of Health and Human Services comes in second in savings ... at $285.6 million. The Department of Transportation ranks third in annualized savings, followed by the Department of Justice."

All told, the government aimed for savings of about $686.6 million from deregulation so far this year. Right now, the government has saved some $1.308 billion from 47 separate deregulation actions.

Small business optimism at highest point in history. (https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/11/small-business-optimism-surges-to-highest-ever.html)

The quit rate, which is not a thing I'd ever heard of, is at it's highest point in 17 years. (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-09-11/job-openings-in-u-s-increased-in-july-to-record-6-94-million)

That means people have a lot of confidence that there's something better out there. This can only cause wages to go up...

Quote
Job postings exceeded the number of unemployed people by 659,000 in July, the most in data back to 2000. Along with the number of quitters, the gap helps explain why wages rose in August at the fastest pace since 2009,

US back in the top ten of economically freest countries according to Cato's metrics. Up five spots since last year. And up 10 spots from the last year in office of the previous guy.

https://www.cato.org/economic-freedom-world

Had the Dem candidate won the election I do not see the US moving back into the top ten, we probably would have dropped even further.

Hong Kong and Singapore retain the top two positions with a score of 8.97 and 8.84 out of 10, respectively. The rest of this year’s top scores are New Zealand, Switzerland, Ireland, United States, Georgia, Mauritius, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.

It is worth noting that the United States returned to the top 10 in 2016 after an absence of several years. The rankings of other large economies in this year’s index are Germany (20th), Japan (41st), Italy (54th), France (57th), Mexico (82nd), Russia (87th), India (96th), China (108th), and Brazil (144th). The 10 lowest-rated countries are: Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, Angola, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Syria, Algeria, Argentina, Libya, and lastly Venezuela.

Damn that Trump!

I could not bring myself to vote for Trump as I thought he could not be trusted. (while still hoping he won, seeing the alternative.)

I could not be happier to have been proven so wrong. I cannot recall a president that has fulfilled his promises as well as Trump has.

(Only comparable, in my lifetime, is the 1994 Contract with America. They didn't promise they'd get everything done on the contract, but that they'd at least get it to the floor for a vote.)

And now from all that increased economic activity, the federal government has just reported historic record tax revenues in October, the first month of the new fiscal year, of $252,692,000,000.

That’s more than $11.4 billion above revenue for October of last year, which was the previous record tax revenue for an October.

https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/15/media-pushes-unverified-gossip-to-hide-trumps-amazing-economic-and-foreign-policy-achievements/

Quote
The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently announced another historic month of job growth as the economy added 1.4 million jobs in August. It was the fourth-best month of job growth on record dating back to 1939 (and likely ever), beaten out only by the preceding three months.

As a result, the country’s unemployment rate dropped to 8.4 percent from its post-pandemic high of 14.7 percent. Recall that in April the Congressional Budget Office forecast a 16 percent unemployment rate for the third quarter.

By historical measures — by any measure, really — this is a remarkable resurgence. Based on recent data, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s GDPNow forecasting model increased its prediction for third-quarter GDP growth to 30.8 percent. That would be the highest number on record dating back to 1947 (and, again, likely ever).

Of course, this is all on top of news about the Trump administration’s historic steps towards peace in the Middle East. First, it was the United Arab Emirates and Israel making peace. Then Serbia and Kosovo agreed to normalize economic relations with Kosovo (a mostly Muslim nation) recognizing Israel and Serbia moving its embassy to Jerusalem.

Then Bahrain and Israel agreed to normalize relations. Despite protestations from the Palestinians, the Arab League refused to condemn the Israel/UAE deal. Saudi Arabia agreed to let Israeli commercial aircraft fly over its territory.

As a result, the president received two nominations for a Nobel Peace Award.

More jobs, less war.

How can people be opposed to that?

Now it's true these are jobs returning from those lost because of the lockdowns but the economy was doing great before that.

If the House can be flipped maybe we could see more and higher tariffs and incentivize more companies to manufacture more things on this side of the tariff wall.

Get good paying manufacturing jobs coming back here with all the good things that would bring with.

I'd love to see re-shoring in such amounts as to cause a massive surge in hiring which would lead to a chronic labor shortage across all industries and skill-sets.

Once that happens employers have to beg for workers, workers won't have to beg for employment. And that means, in general, wages will constantly be on the rise.

With higher wages comes more purchasing power which leads to a more secure life.

And that results in a more stable society. As people, in general, who are less desperate do not resort to short-term thinking or act in unwise ways.

On top of that it would mean shorter supply chains, and that means more secure supply chains and that means less need to patrol the world. Which means less need to get involved in other places' issues. Part of this is energy independence, which means even more security. Which means an even more secure and stable society. It's like a virtuous cycle.

So yeah, Trump is the more jobs, less war candidate.

Given the last few presidents and the opposition from the deep state and their media allies it was quite an accomplishment to get elected once on that platform, and it looks like he's going to do it again.

If he released it before it aired, that's bad form and he probably violated their contract.  (but he's a lot better at playing dirty than I am and I can't fault him too much for not being totally fair with an enemy.)  If he released it at the same time or immediately after broadcast, then good for him.

But hey, so long as the guy you don't like is the one getting screwed by the guys you support then no worries.

Trump must still be in the good graces of organized crime. I can't believe they don't have dirt on him.

I admit, Trump is way cleaner than I imagined him ever to be.  The only charges I have seen that may not be total BS are the ones about the classified documents... and that is something that a bunch of other pols have done too, including Biden and Pence.  Who are not facing charges, of course.

Does an historic win in Iowa count as an accomplishment?
