Agreed, but that Swiss procedure isn't horrible on the face of it.  I imagine the Swiss government keeps a database of ever firearm owner, though.

That is debatable, but "officially" and "legally" our government can't keep a database on non-NFA items.

Plus, legal or illegal... One would presume the Swiss are more competent than the American ATF...
