Title: Food Steamer recipes
Post by: charby on November 28, 2017, 10:55:26 PM
So I got one of those $210 Oster 2 tier food steamers collecting dust in a box in my basement.

Decided I better use it. Anyone got some tasty recipes?

I can't eat beef and hard beans, due to a violent reactions from consumption.

You're supposed to cook them until they get soft  ;/

I have an autoimmune condition that is triggered by beef or dried beans. Other food additives too.

Surprisingly I can eat cured beef just fine.

Well there's your problem! You've been eating sick beef all this time, and it sets you off.

Personally, no. I just like steamed veggies. They can be tossed or drizzled with whatever sauce or topping suits your fancy. A little salt, pepper, and butter is usually all I do.

However...

Back when I still ate grains (recently went Keto for weight loss and see if such helps my accursed eczema, which it seems to be doing), my favorite steamer recipe was:

Enough chicken stock to replace the water needed for:

.5 cup of dry brown rice
1 cup of stir fry frozen veggies
.5 cup of frozen mixed veggies (peas/carrots/corn)
2 small chicken breasts
NaCl/Black Pepper/Curry Powder/Cayenne pepper to taste

Steam for 50-55 minutes to ensure chicken is fully cooked.

About the only things I really steam are Chinese dumplings, shrimp, and sweet potato (when I'm making savory mashed sweet potatoes).

Those I steam using my rice cooker and the insert.
