Title: Amazon Prime Membership Tax

Do any of you in other states get charged tax on Prime membership? Mine just auto-renewed today and I saw it was $99 + $7.67 tax.

Without digging through old CC statements, I don't recall the tax. Maybe I was hit last year too and didn't notice, but I know I remember seeing "$99" with no tax in years past. I was somewhat surprised seeing the sales tax this time.

Mine renews in June.

Last June I got charged tax according to the statement in my account, but because I don't live in a communist state it was only $1.55.

Haven't seen a tax, but I live in NH.  No sales tax here.

I'm mostly curious on taxing of the service. Is it because of content provided? There's nothing else that's a tangible good, and I'm hard pressed to think of any other "membership" I have that has sales tax applied.
