Title: Weinstein Company take-down
Post by: Hawkmoon on February 13, 2018, 02:35:12 PM
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/feb/12/weinstein-lawsuit-attorney-general-says-we-have-never-seen-anything-as-despicable

New York State AG has filed a suit that may scuttle the purchase and reorganization of the Weinstein Company. His problem? That aside from the Weinstein brothers themselves, the senior management that allowed and enabled Harvey's predatory activities would remain in place.

So there's a question, and I don't pretend to know how to balance the issue. Certainly, there had to be some senior people who halped Harvey cover up his actions. In an ideal world, those people should be punished. But ... this isn't an ideal world. Everywhere we turn, we see that actions have consequences. If the AG is going to insist that all the senior enablers are removed as part of any sale or restructuring -- who will run the company? If a sale has to be contingent on removing all the decision makers, all that's left is a name (which is toxic), a film library of titles, and a building. What's going to happen to all the lower-level employees and their jobs?

'Tis a conundrum.

Big time mobsters seem to be able to run their operations from jail.  Why not Weinstein?  And he'd still get lots of sex, right?
