Title: Good news for a change from Ohio
Post by: TechMan on March 02, 2018, 09:30:18 AM
In 2017 the number of CHL holders increased by 10% so now 1 in 20 Ohioans are CCWers.  https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/03/02/guns-ohio-one-20-ohioans-have-concealed-carry-permit-new-report-shows/386636002/ (https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2018/03/02/guns-ohio-one-20-ohioans-have-concealed-carry-permit-new-report-shows/386636002/)

School boards are choosing  the smart way to provide safety and now announcing it:

I have heard a lot about Ohio's armed teacher program.  Still a managed program, but pretty good with a lot of volunteer effort put into it.

That's great news.  A quote in one of the articles stood out:

"This is not about liberal versus conservative, republican versus democrat," Hairston said. "It's about protecting children and staff and purely that, nothing more, nothing less. We will go to every length possible to make sure we will keep our staff and students safe."

I have heard a lot about Ohio's armed teacher program.  Still a managed program, but pretty good with a lot of volunteer effort put into it.

It was setup by the Buckeye Firearms Foundation.  This is the website: http://fastersaveslives.org/ (http://fastersaveslives.org/)

Funded by donations, classes are provided at NO COST to your school district!

The program offers a carefully-structured curriculum offering over 26 hours of hands-on training over a 3-day class that exceeds the requirements of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.

The purpose is not to replace police and EMT, but to allow teachers, administrators, and other personnel on-site to stop school violence rapidly and render medical aid immediately.

When violence strikes and students’ lives are on the line, every second matters. Faster response is better response.
