Here's a reality check for you:

1.  There are people and institutions who want to control you.

2.  There are people and institutions who want your stuff.

3.  It is easier for them to control you or get your stuff if they are armed and you aren't.

4. "Armed" means having anything from a rock to any of the "terrible implements of the soldier."

Reality.  Simple, ain't it?
