It's kind of surprising there's no thread (until now) about the Socialist who's about to be a Congresswoman from New York. Since she has a long name most Americans can neither spell nor pronounce, I suggest we call her Bernice.

I still think they are leaning towards Kamala Harris for that. I just read she is apparently ramping things up for a bid. I was originally worried because of the identity politics voting block, but after a year of the stupidest tweets ever, as highlighted on Twitchy, I am really hoping she's a front runner.

I think that's almost a given. She has the black thing going for her and she has the woman thing going for her. I suspect the Ds see her as Obama and Hillary all rolled up in a single, marketable package.

And I must admit, the podcast lists some better nicknames than I gave her. "She Guevara" - so wish I'd thought of that. (Though most Americans still don't know how to pronounce that.)
Also, they suggest she's not the protest radical that people seem to think she is. I'm not sure why that matters, though. I don't care that she didn't go to Zucotti (sp?) Park. The problem is, she'll be in Congress with her stupid, dangerous ideas.

The comment on what would be happening in the media if a Republican said stuff even half as stupid is on target. I would also agree that the best thing that can happen for the 2018 elections is to encourage her keep talking and encourage dems to further embrace her. :)

I don't recall a hardcore Dem ever arguing for a flat tax. They're always about using "progressive" tax rates to punish the rich. They define "rich" as anyone not a democrat congress critter with more than two dimes to rub together.

Understood. But when asked what she considered a "fair share" was, she pretty clearly (I thought) said everyone should pay 15 percent.
To be honest, I was astonished. "Flabbergasted" might be a better word, in fact.

Jerry Brown did, as part of a team that took the flat-tax side in some C-Span debate program. All that being said, he’s still an ideological socialist.

I actually believe there are people like Jerry Brown on that side of the aisle who see the logic, and in point of fact, fairness, of a flat tax. It's just political suicide for them to push such a thing. But then I guess you could say the same for the R side of the aisle.
