Title: When will Trump Declassify the DoJ Russia probe documents
Post by: Scout26 on August 24, 2018, 08:11:42 PM
I swear there is a editorial or Op-ed in the WSJ every other day, telling Trump to declassify all the documents that DoJ is stonewalling to the House.

I think he will do it, but I'm guessing that it will happen when it will have the most impact on the upcoming election.  So when is that.

Winner shall be the closest without going over (so one week is 7-13 days prior).

Winner(s) will receive the the following three prizes:
A) The Hearty Handshake
B) The Pat on the Back
C) The Warm Glow of Victory

Good Luck !!!

The sooner the better if you ask me … I'm never right so I'll just say that I don't think he'll declassify the documents any time soon …   :old:

IMO, if he does it, it will be when he feels the media needs to be distracted from whatever else they are doing.  Not sure when that would be.

What Mech said.  The Ds have been using the Deep State for political reasons all over the country.  I suspect Trump will expose them at a critical time before the midterms.

I figure 10 days to 2 weeks.  Give enough time for the word to get around, don't anticipate the MSM will do much digging.

I don't believe he will declassify the documents.  It would just add more fuel to the Democrats impeachment fire.

I voted other, meaning never.

So, the even bigger question is: Why don’t we have the answers? Why are we left to speculate?

The poisonous thing about the Trump-Russia “collusion” controversy is that it appears to be more a political narrative than a real collaboration in serious malfeasance, notwithstanding the president’s penchant for acting like a guilty man. Is “political spying,” similarly, a narrative — just from the other side? At a certain point, don’t we have to wonder whether the people with access to the relevant information have decided they are better served by innuendo than disclosure?
That article is from a year ago.

There's a good chance that wholesale declassification might cause problems for later prosecutions. With the news that John Huber hasn't talked to Bruce Ohr it's doubtful there are any deep state prosecutions on the horizon …

Be funny if it turned out he was negotiating for territory for a McDonald's franchise.

Looks like declassification isn't quite as cut and dried as I thought ...

Quote
AG Jeff Sessions is recused (frustration), and the request would be against the interests of DAG Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray who are participating in a cover-up of one of the largest abuses of power in American political history.

The President needs the AG or DAG and FBI Director to approve and sign-off on the declassification request.  Under normal, non-corrupt, processes this would be simple.  However, under corrupt leadership, intent on hiding jaw-dropping abuse of authority within the institutions of the DOJ and FBI, the process is anything but simple.

But the process referenced there that "requires sign-off" is just an Obama executive order, it could be eliminated or rewritten by Trump.
There is no legal requirement for him to follow that process (https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2017/may/16/james-risch/does-president-have-ability-declassify-anything-an/).

I have my doubts that the FISA documents will become available in any form that will be very useful unless you have an appropriate security clearance.  I suspect folks are going to be prosecuted with regard to this whole business; not just loosing their jobs.  However, everything could change if the Democrats take the Senate or House or both in the mid-term elections.  Stuff will just get swept under the rug as always.

In my opinion, it was likely done to deflate some of the Kavanaugh news.  If it hadn't been for that nonsense, I don't believe the docs would have been declassified.

Even though I was still in the single digits age-wise, ny Father made me watch the Watergate Hearings (along with watching the news each night) during Watergate (not you could watch anything else...).  And I remember all the Journalists clamoring for every documents that was ever in the White House to be released.

Now when Trump says he wants the DoJ, FBI etc, documents (including the 302's from interviews) regarding the russia, Russia, RUSSIA investigation and what prompted it (FISA Warrants, etc.), along with all the text messages from Comey, Strozk, Page, Ohr, et al.  The media acts as if all this transparency is a REALLY BAD thing.

I agree, but I'm still happy they are being declassified.

Same here.  I was hoping they would be declassified, but really did not expect Trump to do so.

So what difference will this make? The media are already ignoring one of the ugliest political scandals in American history. Will they really have to start reporting it now? Why?

I doubt it will make a difference to the leftist media.  It will declassify a number of conversations between a lot of the people investigating Trump and the Russia stuff.  Maybe it will shine some light in if you find out who is actually reporting on it.

The Democratic (party) leaders are saying we have a constitutional crisis because of Trump and the declassification of the documents.  Brennan says that they should defy Trump's order and risk being terminated to protect the country.

I think the Democrats are ultimately protecting Obama and Hillary Clinton.  I believe we do have a constitutional crisis when you can't trust the FBI, CIA and other government agencies (mostly secret) from doing their jobs in a non-partisan manner.  This may well rattle the country.

Yes.  Because if the actual e-mails ever came to light (remember Comey talked about "e-mail chains"with classified info in them), it would show that President "I never knew she was using a home brew server" was in fact emailing classified info to "hillary@clintonemail.com".

Declassify.
If DOJ/FBI won't produce the documents, start firing at the top and work your way down until someone does produce the documents.
Issue indictments immediately after.

I know a lot of protections exist to put a stop to elected officials handing out govt jobs, but I tend to think that is a smaller problem than a bunch of federal workers who feel they can never be fired for any reason.

I thought that was already known, just not discussed, because we must not besmirch the Holy Black President.
