Title: And yet another computer-related question
Post by: Hawkmoon on January 15, 2019, 04:49:46 AM
I have a plug-in or add-on from somewhere that allows me to download videos from Youtube. BUT ...

The downloads are in MP4 format, and my version of Windows Media Player (Windows 7) doesn't handle MP4, only MP3.

Is there a solution? I'm open to something that will download in MP3 format; a player that will handle MP4 format; or a utility that can convert the MP4 downloads to MP3.

Whatcha got?

Update: What I just discovered is that my Media Player apparently will handle MP4 files -- but the files must have some content. I had attempted to download some Gregorian Chants, and they wouldn't play. Closer examination shows that the downloads contain zero bytes of data.

So my issue apparently isn't how to play MP4 files, but how to download Youtube files that somehow defeat the downloader.

I use youtube-dl, it's command line, but has lots of configurability.

By golly, there is a Windows version.  I did not know that.
