I hadn't heard about this until I saw it on twitter. There are a couple of pictures with article. Looking at those, I am thinking it was faked and just a publicity stunt. Still disgusting.
The fake BBQ was accompanied with a banner that read, "If You Wouldn't Eat a Dog, Why Eat a Pig?"

"When it comes to feeling pain and fear, a pig is no different from a dog, a cat, or a human," said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "PETA is urging anyone who's repulsed by the prospect of chowing down on a chow chow to extend that compassion to all other animals and go vegan."
"PETA just wants us to hate them... And it's working."
Quotes for truth.

Bold of them to assume I've never eaten dog.

But did you BBQ it whole with the head still on?

They're been using this "tactic" for a few years now

I wouldn't eat a cockroach either, but that doesn't mean I care about its feels.

Plan backfires, line of Asians around the block. I worked in Norfolk too long, always maintained that the first JDAM in the war on terror ought to go right through their headquarters.

Probably one of the dogs that these 'tards "humanely rescued," then euthanized.

All in all, the quick death of the slaughterhouse or a hunter's bullet sure beats being torn to death by a predator or slowly dying from disease, injury, or deprivation.
Sorry, but that's the way I see it, PETA. Get real.

Cut the paws off and a dog and a coon BBQ look pretty identical.

When the cat died catnip tea...
When the landlord died I left there
Spare ribs were too much for me."
