I just experienced another indicator that confirms I'm retired.
I just called the local diner to order my "Philly Cheese Steak Fridays" Philly Cheese Steak. It is, of course, Thursday today, as I was informed by the gal on the phone. :laugh:

Hey, my parents never missed Lawrence Welk when I was a kid. I'm sure I saw every episode. :laugh:

When we would stay at my grandparents home in Council Bluffs all the kids got shuffled off to the basement to play when Lawrence Welk came on.

H. Allen Smith, a famous humorist of the 40s, had a story in his book "Life in a putty knife factory " about how he and his borther used to stay with their grandmother over the summers and played "Getting Grandmother Behind" by dinking around with her daily newspaper deliveries.
Toward the end of their stay, they'd start playing "Getting Grandmother Ahead Again" by delivering the held-back newspapers and syncing her up with reality again.
Cruel little bastards.
But if I remember correctly, there was a hint that she knew about it and just played along with them for her own amusement.
I'm thinking it won't be long until I need a 31-day pill keeper. Then a 365-day one.

I actually got one of those clocks for my dad around ten years ago. Now karma is getting me back. :laugh:
In many ways, I like that I'm not keeping track of days anymore, and think of it as a "plus" of the retirement lifestyle. I used to hate looking at my calendar in the morning at work. Other than having to crave a Philly Cheese Steak for an extra day, it's all pretty positive. :laugh:

I've just realized that having children is God's way of preparing you for old age.
While you are young, you can put something down and have it disappear at any moment because of little fingers forcing you to search all over the house to discover where it's been moved to.
Once you're old, that skill of finding where some person (you, this time) hid the item becomes very useful.
