I wonder if this one featured the same scope of incompetence as is described in Unintended Consequences and the 1986 FBI gunfight.

It seemed pretty informal. The news announcer stated this was while taking the body to the medical examiner's office. I think the announcer mistakenly stated the body was in a casket, it was probably just in a bag on the gurney, or perhaps just in sheets, it's hard to tell from the video. It was the casket part of the statement that struck me as unusual. Hospitals don't normally have caskets available, that I'm aware of.

A total of five agents were shot. Two were killed and two others were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The FBI did not speak on the condition of the third injured agent.
Authorities also say the subject is dead.

Can't rely on reporters to get basic facts straight in their reporting. This is especially true if they are trying to push a specific agenda. Looks like a flag draped gurney to me. It's interesting that they had a flag at the ready, however.

Kiddie porn consumers seem like cry and hide folks for the most part.
The folks tasked with procuring the kiddies for the porn probably have more capacity for violence. The local news here in Tampa was calling this a child trafficking warrant.

We do not have caskets in the hospital. We do have body bags and have some spare flags for the flagpole. I have been part of events in which a first responder dies in the ED and is then transported to the medical examiner's office. The body goes in a bag, the bag goes on a gurney, and we will drape the gurney with a flag as it is wheeled through the corridors to the vehicle transporting to the ME's office. It is a pretty somber occasion, and the hospital staff will often stand at attention, salute, or put their hands over their hearts as the gurney rolls past.

Child porn/child exploitation can carry lengthy mandatory sentences, especially for people all ready on the sex offender registry. I wonder if the guilty said *expletive deleted*ck it since they were going to be in prison for the rest of their life and decided to take a few with them?

It's my understanding that child molesters are at the bottom of the pecking order inside prison, and are treated harshly by their fellow inmates. So there's another potential reason to go out shooting rather than be arrested.

With my new job in the big city, I have seen an exponential increase in the number of trafficking cases coming into court. And yes, those who deal in children, especially teens, are violent POSs who are often fairly well armed. Surprising to me is that in the four months I've been here, I've seen half a dozen cases where Glocks in. 357 SIG caliber have been seized from trafficking cases.

Maybe after the last year or so and the defunding the police mantra coupled with mass retirements and career changes by the police they have realized that they *may* just be outnumbered and outgunned and have started carrying a few flags in the cruiser trunks. =|

Possible.
I personally know four former police officers who have retired, and one who simply decided to get out of that line of work. None of them seem to have any regrets about getting out.

Undertaker we hired for my dad kept some in their vans and herses for just such a reason. Dad left home for the last time under a flag even though it was just the undertaker and us, and done in the dark evening.

I hope that as well. The guy may be what they say he was accused of, but we don't know. It is one of those accusations that get no sympathy from anyone. Hopefully that isn't case here and this was actually someone that deserved it.

They were suspicious and had a 3rd party inspect their computer who found a file buried in the system that could be seen as illegal. Said they didn't put it there and it wasn't in a location that was easily found. You can imagine if someone was raided and the Feds claimed they found child porn on their computer, just about anyone defending them would pull back. The circumstances wouldn't matter. [tinfoil] If the Feds started the Great Confiscation, that would be a good way to disguise the initial round of raids. [tinfoil] Maybe I can pass that to Infowars to investigate.

It would be very easy to set someone up with that type of file through any kind of email/download where they weren't paying attention. You have to know what you're looking for to suspect, and it's much harder now than it was back when I took the class. We worked with files for that segment where a "suspicion trigger" was a one page document that instead of being 30K was 300K. These days, a 300K image could easily be slipped in a one page word processing document that was saved at 3meg because of all the fancy formatting options in modern software.
Edit: It may have even been slipping a hidden image "inside" another image. I would need to dig up the old books to verify.

If you do a deep dive into the subject, you’ll find that nearly all of the main porn outlets are owned by the same entity, and this entity has been involved in CP. the people involved would certainly be considered a protected class.

Hard to defend against that.
I've taken to encrypting any hard disk (on a laptop) that might leave the house (and some in). Too easy for a hostile actor ("advanced persistent threat") to slip a nasty in on someone. Probably wouldn't be enough, but one has to try.

Oh, the delicious irony: All across the country, police departments are trying to get owners of doorbell cameras to link them into the PD so the cops can have an expanded surveillance network without having to install much of any infrastructure. But God forbid a homeowner should use his doorbell camera to let him know when someone is approaching his door. That's EVIL!
