I think Windows 11 is released tomorrow. Who will be the guinea pig to upgrade and then report back to the Collective?

I have one computer that easily meets the minimum CPU requirements, and I suppose I might put it on out of curiosity as long as I can get back to Win10. But certainly not tomorrow.

I upgraded my laptop to 10 a few months ago. It's doing OK, but you can tell that it's not optimal.
Not sure I'm going to try upgrading to 11.

I'll probably do the same as last time with win 7. I'll use win 10 to end of service then switch to 11 or whatever.

At this point I am undecided about what to do. I don't have any hardware that supports a Windows 11 download upgrade. I do have some that will take a DVD or USB stick upgrade, but MS says that type of installation will not receive standard and security updates.

I'm sticking with 10 until I get a handle on how invasive MS is going to be within the W11 environment. Auto-updates in 10 have proven troublesome enough. I'm not real jazzed about making it worse.

So far I've not seen any reason to even think about about upgrading to 11 for another 4 years.
Is 10 working for you now? If yes you're probably fine for another 4 years. In that time MS could relax some of the hardware requirements, and/or you will have upgraded hardware by then. If not and you still want to run older hardware go linux.

Just last month, I bought a top of the line Dell desktop from Costco, so it meets the hardware requirements. I see that Win11 is going to be rolled out piecemeal, so I don't know when I will get the notification that I am eligible to update.

I have two computers running it. I have had no issues except the usual getting used to slightly different menus/ui and the always expected where the hell did they move that setting this time.

I think I have WIndoze 8 on one laptop I haven't turned on in a couple of years... and my living room computer, which has been off for about a year, has WIndoze 10, but I haven't had an excuse to mess with it. WIll probably have to take it to a friend's restaurant to pimp off his wifi...

I just got a message from M$ that my laptop is ready to upgrade to Win 11. It has a 10th-gen Intel i5 processor and 16GB or RAM. None of my other PC's are even close. But I think I'm gonna wait a while.

If your laptop didn't come with 10, there's almost no chance it will meet specs for 11.

Support for Windows 10 will continue until October 14, 2025, so I'm not even considering Windows 11 until then.

When powering up the new Dell desktop this morning, I received a notification that my Win11 upgrade is ready. I am currently installing it and it is at the 85% mark right now. Assuming that the upgrade works, I will be back to report on it later today.

Well, this seems to be a seamless update process. Some different menu layouts and there is now an icon bar in the bottom middle of the desktop window. I am not seeing any performance improvements, yet.

Win XP was the cat's meow. Win 7, what I'm running now, is second best. Win 8 and Win 8.1 sucked. Win 10 is too close to the litter box for me. Win 11 is is an unknown and likely something buried in the litter box. :old:

And you probably won't.
My initial impression (based on press releases and reviews, not personal experience) is that Windows 11 is primarily just an attempt to make Windows look more like the Apple user interface.
