Recall for 2013-2018 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ. Apparently the brake flex lines have a nasty habit of bursting.

Only reason I know of it is one of our professors mentioned having her Fusion in the shop for a third ruptured brake line incident. Piqued my curiosity enough for a quick Google search.

Brake flex hoses should be established technology by now. My Cherokee is 22 years old and the flex hoses are fine. You have to wonder what Ford cheaped out on in the holy name of saving 0.32 cents per hose that they suddenly have potentially 17 million vehicles out there with defective hoses.

My work mobile is a 2018 Fusion with 127,000 on it. I'll probably be getting a recall notice. They replace our vehicles at 140,000 miles but the current contract has expired, fleet vehicles are a pain to get, and who knows what will be on the next vehicle contract will be. I was told we may be driving our current vehicle a lot longer than usual due to all of this.

A few weeks ago I blew a brake pressure sensor off an F350. Luckily not my first rodeo with sudden loss of brakes. Glad it happened going uphill. Don’t brake check an f350 when you are blocking the only passing lane for miles people.
As the owner of many fine Ford products that is situation normal to save three cents even if it costs an accident or major repairs. The Focus transmission was a lovely one, failing over one slightly cheaper seal. My plastic intake manifold on a 4.6 cracking and dumping all the coolant instantly was also nice. A recalled item but they don’t tell you, just wait for the call.
