Couldn’t pass up a Tisas full size 1911 from Classic Firearms for $339 so I had to get one. Rumor has it their fine pistols for the price. So I grabbed the 1911 Duty and just picked it up today. Gotta say, the finish is sexy and everything looks great. Trigger feels great out of the box as well. Can’t wait to get some range time with it.

That looks really good.
I saw some of those models for sale and was tempted. If nothing else, it has standard sights which are much easier to upgrade compared to the 1911-A1 model.
Let us know how it shoots and how it feeds hollow points.

I've got the "Carry" commander size version of that in 9mm.
I'm pretty impressed with it so far.
The sights are described as "Novak style".

I dunno what they're thinking with that Regulator. For that kind of money, I want a beavertail grip safety with palm swell and a short (or at least medium) trigger. And some decent sights.

My disgust with hard chrome is right up there with Patton's hatred for pearl grips.
When I said I wished they would pop one in .38 Super, I meant the EXACT same one that Lenny bought. Same configuration, same finish.

Armscor / Rock Island shows one on their site, but I don't think it looks as good as Lennyjoe's.

I have one stainless steel handgun -- my S&W 4506. It's matte stainless.
I don't even have any stainless revolvers.
I had one nickel plated S&W Model 36 years ago, but I ended up selling it to a friend's father because I just couldn't get past that shiny, soulless gleem.
It was not unlike looking into the dull, lifeless eyes of a hard-core liberal.

I have seen nickel plated guns, but I don't think I have every owned one.
I do have a few shiny stainless revolvers that look good. However, a really good condition blued revolver better.

I have a satin nickel 70 Series Combat Commander that I got for a song many moons ago from a friend that used to jump in and out of the gun hobby like a Mexican jumping bean.
I also have two satin stainless Delta Elites (One of them again for a song again from the same guy).

What I REALLY want, however, is one of the S&W M&P 2s in .38 Super. I wrote them and asked them if one was going to be forthcoming, but they didn't envision it.

Same. I don't like the look of shiny stainless, or even that satin nickel 1911 I posted, but the satin stainless on my Delta Elites is actually pretty sharp looking, IMO.

I'm a fan of Rock Island 1911s, I've got 3 of them. But after buying and shooting my 9mm Tisas, my bias is shifting a little. If I was looking for a new budget pistol and the choice was between a similarly configured and priced RIA and a Tisas, I'd probably get the Tisas.

The Battleship Texas Foundation has this commemorative Colt Python for sale with engraving. Shiny stainless looks good in a package like this. Shoots good also. =)

I've actually not handled guns by either Rock Island or Tisas, but people I know who have say that the Tisas guns are just a bit nicer overall. Not a huge difference.

Owning both I'd say the difference, while not huge, is certainly noticeable.

I’ve only owned 1 RIA 1911 and that was in 10MM. From what I remember of it, the Tisas seems to be just a bit nicer in fit, finish and machining

Don't like Colt revolvers, but that would look so much better with a blued finish, even I would want it. Using stainless for a gun like that is just dumb.

Just ran a few rounds thru my 5” Duty received earlier this week.
75 rounds of 230 gr FMJ over HP-38
16 rounds of 230 gr Zero JHP over HP-38
16 rounds of Federal 230 gr JHP Hi-Shock
16 rounds of 230 gr Gold Dot JHP
Had 2 FTF on the Zero JHP and it was the 2nd round on the same magazine. Marked that mag and put to the side. Everything else ran just fine with the 2nd factory magazine and a Wilson 47D.
Groups we’re great at 15 yds and opened up just a bit due to rapid fire trying to see if it would fail to feed, which it didn’t after the magazine was set to the side.

According wiki they're in Trabzon which is on the Black sea coast with another location in Ankara (not clear if that includes production or is just an office) so I would say no since the quake was on/near the Syrian border down south. They shouldn't be effected unless a suppler got hit.

There's a 4 1/4" barrel version as well. You can always rattlecan it.

I missed that one in going through their site. All gun sites need to offer a search by cartridge feature.

I need to upload a picture for you when I get a chance. Local dealer has two Colt 38 Super 1911's that are gold plated in their used rack. The gold plated guns were $4000 or $5000 grand. One has "El Jefe" engraved on the slide. The other says "El Patron".
They also had a brushed stainless Colt 38 that was new ($1600).

I like gold plated even less than I like high polish nickel or chrome.
I missed a super deal on a mechanically perfect Smith .357 for that reason. Nicely engraved but butt-ugly gold plating and pimptastic grips. Priced down in the weeds because of it. I could have had it stripped and nickled or blued and still been dollars ahead but I wasn't thinking straight.
