If I'm having trouble searching for something, I have a short list of things I consider:
- KISS (Keep it simple, stupid): omit articles, focus on nouns, verbs, and necessary adjectives and adverbs
- Synonyms, or layman's terms: instead of "pistol," also try "handgun"
- What are you hoping to find ideally? Do you want a review, a comparison, etc.
So if you want information on "pistols safes," I'd try:
- "pistol safe"
- "pistol safe review"
- "pistol safe comparison"
- "pistol safe information"
- "handgun safe"
- "handgun safe review"
- "handgun safe comparison"
- "handgun safe information"
Good luck.
Edit: When sifting through search results, pay attention to the "legitimacy" of a website. Generally, a ".gov" or ".edu" site is legitimate, whereas ".com" sites are not always as safe. I pay particular attention to forum threads, as it's likely a thread has been creating on a forum somewhere on the internet related to your search criteria. In addition, many times you can find more information from a site found from a search query, and not directly from the search query itself.
