Re: Alcohol.  I don't doubt it pushes up BP.  But it's metabolized quickly, right?  So it shouldn't have any effect by the day after..........

Depends on how much and how often.  Long-term heavy drinkers will suffer all kinds of ill effects. Elevated BP is just one potential issue.

Iain,
I had weight-related BP problems anyway.  The spike was because I overdid it on the treadmill and hyperventilated.  It's really trippy, you should try it sometime.

I've probably experienced very short term high blood pressure spikes, heavy front squats will do that. Still don't fancy having the effect last any appreciable amount of time thanks.

Aside from the change in exercise and dietary habits - any stop and smell the daisies type after effects? I sort of wish my fathers brain bleed earlier this year had had that effect, but it just didn't. Not on him anyway, my mother now smells more daisies than she did before.
I do not like, when with me play, and I think that you also

Not really, I was already pretty good at it after the emotional and physical trauma of a horrendous divorce.  The main effect, other than simply feeling better, is being much less self-conscious about my appearance.  There isn't a single full-length photograph of me at my heaviest because I shied away from cameras.  Now I don't mind being photographed.

Amazing how often divorce and health problems go together.  Almost seems like marriage is bad for your wallet and divorce is bad for your health!

Previously in this thread I mentioned that there were no pictures of me at my heaviest because I shied away from cameras.  Leave it up to my mother to have not one but three I didn't know about.  Here's the first two.  Gawd but I was a tub-o-lard.

The skin coloring in the first pic is not a misprinted pic.  I really was that red from untreated high blood pressure.  That pic was taken about three months before I started losing weight.  I was somewhere between 275 and 280.

That guy standing behind you in the first pic could use some help, too.  Is he inspired by your success?

His name is Jeff.  That pic was cropped from a much larger class pic when I graduated colleg in 2005.  Jeff has a little extra fluff but is otherwise pretty well proportioned, he just happens to be one of those guys with a chubby face.
