Someone who sounds like they need help
« on: January 10, 2008, 09:02:53 PM »
I don't normally post stuff requesting help. Especially not for folks that I don't know. But I caught this (http://anarchangel.blogspot.com/2008/01/weve-been-blindsided-and-we-need-help.html) via Ambulance Driver, and thought maybe mention of it here would be appropriate...

Just dropped a little in the tip jar.  Maybe we can post a link to this over on THR?  I mean, it's activism and gun related, just on a very personal scale.  Smiley

I wonder if they can give an update as to how much they've raised so far?

I see $100.00 donations here and there on different blogs, and even a $500.00 one.

Is that the same guy who was showing off his extravagant big screen TV and home theater purchases recently and plan for global home theater domination (along with all of the HD subscription costs)? Buying seven computers during the holidays... easily $8k+ worth of other holiday gifts? http://anarchangel.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Call me a sceptic, but he openly states that he's a highly paid 'contractor'. We all know contractors are responsible for paying their own taxes and I can't help wondering if the guy didn't go crazy during the holiday buying season and having remorse now that it's tax time...

That's what my wife said after reading the plea for assistance.  Being a single mom fighting off her own ex-husband for custody of her sons, she thinks something isn't being accurately displayed in the story line.

I didn't know he went and bought a bunch of computers and other expensive toys.  Perhaps he's selling them to generate legal funds, too?

Does anyone actually know this person? Giving money to someone posting on a blog isn't any wiser than some of those spam emails that make the rounds.

First off, thank you Strings for linking us up here.

Contractors can also be on W2s with withholding.  Chris is.

We didn't buy $8k in electronics.  We bought 3 new computers at smokin deals (all under $400 each), used those to replace some of our older pieces, and refurbished and gave the old comps as Christmas presents.

The tv was half price and replaced one that was dying.

And yes, if we'd known this was going to come up we wouldn't have done any of that.  But we were expecting another 18 months to save up and pay.

There are more comments and explanations here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=330352

Anyway, thanks for the support.

BTW, my ex is signing up at multiple sites and leaving nasty comments, so admins if you see a comment or new member from the netblock 24.64.0.0 to 24.71.255.255 it might be him.

APS:

FWIW, I have met and set up a shoot with Kim & Connie du Toit at http://www.theothersideofkim.com/

Good folks of the sort you wouldn't fear leaving your kids with.  They think well of the Byrnes.

My only interaction with Chris Byrne is a few posts at one of Kim's forums, so I can not claim to have a bead on him or his wife.

So, my only affirmation of the Byrnes is second-hand.

As to the story, it does have the same flavor other such dealings I have had the misfortune of witnessing.

Sorry, I can't provide a more solid bona fides, but, to such as it is I will add that I found it worth my time to read up on the deal and make a (very) small donation.

Chris & Melody:

I hope this all ends quickly and with your kids in your care.  I won't hope for a "win," because when "winning" includes near-penury, it really does not smell like victory.  More like survival.

Good luck and know that you have my prayers.

(Side Note:  I mus be getting soft.  When I was single & with no kids of my own, I would have skimmed the posts and clicked on, thinking, "Well, sucks to be them."  Or maybe that commercial is right and kids do change everything.)

Fair enough.

Now, what happens when Canadian Ex-Husband keeps litigating after this particular round?

IOW, what legal measures are in place to prevent the continued barrage by the Ex to bankrupt the defendants?

Are they dodging a bullet this time to eventually catch a missile later?

Sounds like he's already on to the Pro-Gun funding/donation plan, so does that mean he'll redouble his legal efforts?
