Yeah the amount of powder in a .50 cal round is not to be played around with.

I've shot exactly 1 round of .50 cal out of a Grisley, so I have a pretty good idea your right!
For all the love it gets the M2 seems like kind of a finicky thing?

They are a blast to shoot, but think about it, alot in our inventory saw action during WWII.

I think it has persisted due to how simple the design is.

Like what, the XM307 with the "computer controlled ammunition"?
I shudder to think how well that gun would work after a few sandstorms and being generally thrown around in the field or exposed to salt spray. I can't believe they actually thought that'd be a good idea.
