What amazes me is that this bulb has survived this long even despite the vibrations from earthquakes and heavy equipment.

When did "firemen" become "firefighters"?

Roughly the same time that women started joining the fire service.

Which is roughly the same time the standards got drastically lowered so they could qualify.  sad

I worked with quite a few women in the fire service and emergency medical services.  I had no complaints.

I've also worked with a few female firefighters that could put their male counterparts to shame in the strength and stamina category.

As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, the physical tests weren't any different for male or female.

/shrug. Well, I know the standards are radically different and unfair in the military. I think it's similar in FD's but I'm not sure.
