Air Pistol Recommendations?
« on: May 18, 2008, 09:15:35 AM »
Been thinking about getting an air pistol and came across the Gamo.  I have a Gamo air rifle, and just bought one for my daughter's tenth birthday.  Been impressed with the accuracy of the rifle, but the pistol is a bit pricey at >$250.00, but I don't really want to go the CO2 route...

Anyone have any experience/recs?
If the bandersnatch seems even mildly frumious, best to shun it.  Really. http://www.cctplastics.com

I have an extremely accurate Crosman Mk 1, but that runs on a C02 cartridge and is harder to find, it's an antique. (I found it for $16 at a flea market!)

Beeman has some good spring pistols to choose from. They all aren't made by the same company so models differ in quality (stay away from the cheap ones). We have a really old one that is excellent quality. You could always just get a Crosman 1377 for $50. No c02 to buy and you can get parts and upgrades for them easy if you needed. They are pretty darned good for $50 too.

Don't I know it. The ironic thing is, they based them on the Ruger, but gave it an adjustable trigger that can adjust down to like a pound, with a perfectly crisp break. It just points perfectly, too. I've heard people use them in competitions, and I see why.

I'll bet it does.  I know I'll incur the wrath of every 1911 advocate on this board, but I prefer that more extreme grip angle.  I point much better with my Glock 34 than with my Series 80.

Been thinking about getting an air pistol and came across the Gamo.

Which Gamo and for what purpose?

I'm guessing you're referring to the Gamo Compact.

Lee, yes, it's the compact.  Been reading Brian Enos and decided I can shoot quickly, but need to get to the basics.  Figured the compact might be able to get me what I need...
