  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
no internet where I'll be moving to, though I hope to be able to get a laptop in a few weeks to use it at wifi spots in the neighborhood.
I use firefox, is there anyway to send all my bookmarks to an email then upload in a new laptop?
My tower is going into storage.

When you export bookmarks from Firefox it just saves them all in an html file. Couldn't you just attach that file to an email and then open it later and import your bookmarks back into Firefox?

That's exactly how you'd do it.  In fact, that's how I migrate my bookmarks from one system to another.

OK, it can be done.
Now, can you tell me how?

I looked at the "organizing bookmark" page nothing jumped out to me as obvious.

You click on "export". This saves them to a file, which you can then send to yourself. smiley. That's what I've figured out atleast...

NO.  Don't use IMPORT.  Use the pathway I posted above to save your Firefox bookmarks to a file in a location of your choosing, which you can then email to your next address.

There's another option as well.  Look up the add on 'Foxmarks'.  It allows you to create an online account to keep all your bookmarks, and synchronize them between multiple computers.  There's even a website you can log on to to get them.

Good.  If that didn't work, you could also grab the Firefox bookmarks.html file from the folder where it resides on your system, something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ws3vrr0f.default

But you'd have to enable hidden file viewing to get to it.  Wink

Firefox 2 or 3?  3 stores them in a different way from 2, but they can be imported.  For 2, look for a file called (I think) bookmarks.html.
