I would've never, ever considered MD and certainly not the Cesspool-on-the-Potomac.

I'm not saying VA is bad, but you guys have to keep fighting a defensive battle all the time.

There aren't even any gun control organization chapters in AK.

Yeah, we have some DSMFs with opinions up here, but they don't have any sympathy in the legislature. Hopefully the cold weather will wear on them enough to where they pack up and go.

There are drawbacks to every place.

Here we have the occasional idiot cop.

Up there you have a moose trying to make sweet love to your car.

Why do you assume that's a problem for 'em?  angel grin

Yeah, I can't imagine a better state than Virginia for RKBA--we actively protect our rights and the police and politicos know that.

Well, maybe Vermont, or Montana, or Alaska, or Texas are more RKBA friendly, but those places have their drawbacks as well.

Sounds like a potential Civil Rights Violation case in which the officers can be held personally responsible.

They still have that silly "teflon coated" bit there?

I thought everyone knew that teflon had zero effect but possibly less barrel friction, and were not even very effective in terms of that?

Teflon's ONLY purpose on these bullets is to provide a medium that will allow the bullet to take the rifling.

It doesn't help one bit with penetration -- that's all done by the hardened penetrator that is contained in the jacket.

You could coat the bullets in any kind of plastic, lead, etc., as long as it's soft enough to take the rifling and provide enough "squish" to allow the bullet to pass through the bore without running pressures too high.

Are those "armor piercing" round balls with lubed cloth patches illegal in muzzleloaders now ?  grin

There's a picture somewhere of what one of those did to someone's femur. Ouch.

Edit: Here it is!

On of the very few gun laws ib Oregon here, also happens to be one of the dumbest in existance. We have the Teflon "cop killer" thing here too, but, if you read the law, it has to be coated with Teflon, or something similar AND be INTENDED to penetrate body armor, and have the intent to commit a felony.
Thus, since Teflon ammo was never designed intended to do that, techinically, you should be ok,especially if you werent intending to commit a felony with the your Teflon ammo, but in practice, who knows.

166.350 Unlawful possession of armor piercing ammunition. (1) A person commits the crime of unlawful possession of armor piercing ammunition if the person:

      (a) Makes, sells, buys or possesses any handgun ammunition the bullet or projectile of which is coated with Teflon or any chemical compound with properties similar to Teflon and which is intended to penetrate soft body armor, such person having the intent that the ammunition be used in the commission of a felony; or

That's total BS. There are many other great advantages too...like when you need a bullet to fry an egg on. Eggs really stick to my non-teflon coated bullets. Although I will give the hard cast lead ones an advantage for flavor. That minty tingle from the lead really goes great with eggs.

Instead of a money-based lawsuit, I'd rather see the officers suspended without pay for 1 month, the sergeant suspended without pay for 1 month and be demoted for a minimum of 6 months, and all three of them required to give firearm-laws refresher courses to the entire department.  As they say, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

A cash settlement only costs the taxpayers.

Or better yet, force the officers to pay the settlement - even if it means forcing the sale of everything they own including thier homes. That'll make the rest of the force a little more mindful of people's rights.

Sounds like an add-on charge, much like how committing a crime with a gun will often result in increased sentences.
