Wellston police scuffle; guns drawn.

Quote
Wellston A brawl between the newly chosen city police chief and his ousted predecessor resulted in guns being drawn on Friday and the mayor requiring medical attention for trying to intercede, police said.

The new police chief was named about four days ago, said Pine Lawn Police Chief Rickey Collins, whose department is investigating at the request of the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney's office.

The two men began pushing and shoving each other about 3 p.m in a meeting room inside Wellston's City Hall. Collins said he did not know what they argued about, though he said the former police chief recently had been demoted to assistant chief.

Guns were pulled during the scuffle, but no shots were fired, Collins said. He said police were investigating who pulled the guns. Wellston police would not identify the new police chief, and Collins did not know his name. The other officer is not being identified because he hasn't been charged.

Just hilarious.  police

Maybe fistful could shed more light on this.  That is his neck of the woods.

Cops drawing their guns in anger. Oh, goodie.

Show this to the lefties who whine that only police should have guns because they're so trained and perfect...

I'm not too sure that would work.  They'd probably just start arguing that the police should be disarmed as well.  undecided

After the masses are disarmed, the police will be armed only with sticks and funny hats.  Its worked so well across the pond, why not here?

Not me.  Sometimes I think the cops should have to flag down a armed citizen to help them make an arrest  laugh

It would just give them further proof that guns are too dangerous for citizens to be trusted with them.  After all, if even trained police can't handle them...   rolleyes

Having spent the last few years in the St. Louis metro area, I don't see this as a cops-are-dumb story.  It's a St. Louis-and-its-surrounding-townships-are-governed-by-a-pack-of-clowns story.  Several years ago there was a female member of the school board in St. Louis (or maybe she was on the city council, I don't recall) that did not wish to yield the floor.  She had a waste basket brought up behind the podium, so she could urinate into it.   undecided

Wellston police would not identify the new police chief, and Collins did not know his name. The other officer is not being identified because he hasn't been charged.

However, if either person involved were a peon mere citizen, we'd know their names and addresses, as an anonymous source within the department would have leaked them.
