SWAT situation finds only an empty room
8/25/2008 9:40 AM
By: News 8 Austin Staff
A SWAT situation came to an end in central Austin with an unexpected result.
Police said once they entered a room at the Doubletree Hotel in central Austin shortly after 5:30 a.m. Monday, they found no one inside.
Police initially thought a man, who is a Bexar county law enforcement official, allegedly assaulted a woman who was staying inside the room with him.
Authorities believe that before police got to the room to investigate the report, the man fled. The swat situation lasted about four hours, before police could enter the room.
Some nearby hotel rooms had to be evacuated. The identity of the man has not been released.

Wait, so since it wasn't his personal residence they couldn't just bust down the door and start shooting or what?

He never brought you an unbalanced budget, which is a perennial joke. He never voted himself a wage increase and, to this day, gives back part of his salary every year. He has always voted to preserve the Constitution, cut government spending, lower healthcare costs, end the war on drugs, secure our borders with immigration reform and protect our civil liberties.

All things considered.....this is a pretty good day for APD....considering all the other great highlights of Chief Art Acevedo's watch....

Now they can justify the millions of dollars they'll need for one of the infrared sensors that look through walls.
