Info on civil war Spencer repeater rifle
« on: August 29, 2008, 06:38:50 AM »
We have a 1860 Spencer repeater rifle that is part of an estate, We will be keeping it in the family but would like to know how we can find any info on it! The serial number is 52747. What would the value be, when was it made, what do I need to look for. We received a appraisal for 1,400-1,800, but some contest that amount. Any help would be appreciated? Thanks

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

I would think they'd just tell you it's not tactical enough and won't suffice in a SHTF scenario.

FALfiles actually has a really good C&R thread where people give informed opinions and research links for stuff.

Just type in "Spencer Rifle" and see what comes up. If it's a true Spencer in pristine condition I would expect it to fetch a bit more than $1,800. Got pics?  grin
