You know good ole' live action cartoon where the good guys always win, the bad guys always loose and nobody ever really gets hurt.  I loved and still love that show.

The Dexter he is a serial killer anti-hero thread just got me to thinking about this and why I like the cartoonish antics of the A-Team so much.

Sorry I digress......sucka.  Cheesy

I just want Nightcrawler's stories to be put into a good TV show.

The A-team never hit anyone because they were using Minis.

Hey they used the occasional M16/AR15 and there was the M60 of course.  Besides those Mini's were laser guided death to anything with Bridgestone, Michellin or GoodYear on the side.  Cheesy

Anybody ever see the Family Guy A-Team episode....pure comedy gold.

Agreed.....guess we'll just have to watch "Burn Notice" until Nightcrawler sells the TV rights....  grin

Actually, I miss the "edgy" shows like "Miami Vice" and "Crime Story"....and the lighthearted ones like "Magnum P.I." and "Riptide"....TV has really gone downhill since the early '90's....except on USA & Sci-Fi networks...

I'm young enough to not have been in existance when The A-Team was originally aired, but I've watched a bunch of reruns and have to admit I like the show.

A-Team is good stuff, but sometimes you don't want that syrupy happy predictable fantasy.   Sometimes gritty and dark and dirty are more interesting than the same old "good guys always win" cliche.

I can think of only two episodes where somebody actually got shot on camera.

I find this more true of books than tv. I've not encountered a good anti-hero type show on the tube, although I admit I've never seen Dexter. Movies seem to do it a bit better, from "Boondock Saints" to the new "Batman."

Edit: and of course Firefly, but that didn't last long enough to really qualify.

I've been rewatching the A-Team lately and it is entertaining as long as I turn off my brain for the gun fights.

Yes.

Heroes are supposed to be courageous individuals who are usually self-sacrificing and have exemplary morals that reflect the society they represent. Think Superman who was for truth, justice and the American way.

The Firefly folk are outlaws at best, criminals at worst, self-serving and morally flexible but in ways we can all appreciate. Malcolm for example has fired on an unarmed man, kicked a bound and wounded guy into an engine, smacked a woman, stolen property and broken countless laws of the rightful governing body.
You gotta love him.

Actually, Malcolm mostly salvages and raids government supply trains. Can't say it's a terrible bad thing to steal from the people who destroyed your independence and everything you cared for.

As for breaking the laws of the rightful governing body, considering what these guys did to River, to start with, I don't see anything morally wrong with breaking their laws.

A classical hero is squeaky clean and completely above-board.  Even if he has run-ins with the law, we are always sure that he is truly innocent.

Can't say that for the Firefly bunch.

One word Micro: Jayne. grin

And if pointing out that a .gov did something wrong makes it ok to ignore all their laws, well..... No one would ever need to obey any laws, would they? And the fine Firefly folks did indeed rob from non-.gov sources. Last I checked theft is still mala in se, no matter what .gov you're under.

Well, if a hero has to be morally perfect, then I suppose you're right.

Nobody's perfect, but heroes strive to be. Anti-heroes? Not so much.
