The old musty boot stank
« on: October 21, 2008, 06:18:48 PM »
Any good remedies?  After 5 days of deer hunting I'm thinking of filling each one with baking soda for a week and seeing how that works out or shooting them (for air holes of course).  They are about 6yr old Rocky boots mostly leather with some type of mesh stuff up the cuff.  I treated them with snoseal last year and man are they ripe.

I was gonna suggest copious amounts of Gold Bond powder in them, but baking soda should work as well.

I've got some 10 year old Vasques that I bought in college at the REI store in Seattle that are still running strong after 10 years and at least 2000 miles, probably more.  They get ripe with the stream-stomping and such, but some foot powder cleans them out well enough.

I don't want to be responsible for the depletion of that much ozone, i would rather bury them in a in a dirt parking lot to keep weeds from growing.

This stuff really works awesome if you folow the directions.

I have really sweaty feet and I have had to deal with stinky shoes and feet for years until I discovered ths stuff a few years ago. I am still on my first can of powder, but I paid $12.95 for it, I see that it is $19.95 now.

Charb, have you ever tried using light sock liners under your regular socks? keeps you feet drier. Cabelas, for one, sells them.

Tried it, feet get way to hot in them.

Put some activated charcoal (from pet store for fish tanks) in a couple stockings (taken from the wifes these are no good anymore pile) and keep the stockings in the boots when your not using them.

Works great for refrigerator stank too.

Sounds like a fantastic tip!
