See, plenty of Obama supporters are gun owners. We should be reaching out to them. And it's obviously not as hard as I have been led to believe to get a gun in Chicago.
I lived there a couple of decades ago. Suburban gun dealers do NOT have to enforce Chicago law - only abide with Federal, State, and their own local law. So they're perfectly willing to sell firearms to Chicago residents.
To get technical, Chicago residents may buy, use, and own firearms without regard for Chicago's rules, so long as they stay outside the city - it's only if they bring them back within the city limits that city ordinances come into play.
I have reason to believe that the city's preposterous registration law was widely ignored by a great many good people . . . and the city's handgun ban would appear to be moot after
Heller, but someone will probably have to go to court to have the Daleyites obey the law.
