Apparently the new weapon in the war on vermin is FAE. I'm sure the landlord is pleased, they will probably respond a little better to residents roach complaints now.

Roach Bombs Blamed For DeKalb Apartment Explosion

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 – updated: 6:10 pm EST November 25, 2008
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- DeKalb County fire officials say a woman’s attempt to get rid of bugs in her apartment caused an explosion Tuesday morning.

Capt. Eric Jackson with the DeKalb County Fire Department said a woman set off 14 indoor foggers – also known as roach bombs – in her Columbia Drive apartment before she left for work. Fire officials said the foggers interacted with a pilot light which caused an explosion.

Several windows in the apartment building were blown out. Part of a brick facade on the back of the building was also blown off.

The explosion caused a loud boom, which scared residents, but no one was hurt.

The renter spoke with Channel 2’s Jovita Moore and she said she felt awful about the incident. The woman said she was sorry and that she was thankful everyone in her building was OK.

Four families were relocated to other apartments.

Other than a little headache, I'm sure the roaches are fine ;)

That would make a fine Mythbusters episode.  Oh, wait...

Ya but didn't the myth busters realize it took a ridiculous quantity of those things to blow up the house.

Fourteen foggers = rediculous quantity

And it would take lesser quantities to blow up a smaller area.

I could see one fogger, in a small room, being more than enough to cause a detonation.

Stuff like this is why when we bought our house earlier this year (previous owner was renting the single-family home to multiple families that brought cockroaches from their country of origin), we used roach bombs that reacted with water to make the gas, rather than relying on a propellant.

RTFM, someone was working above her paygrade

Directions for use:

1.   Open cabinets, cupboards, drawers, closets, and doors in areas to be treated. Remove or cover exposed foods, dishes, utensils, food processing equipment, and surfaces. Remove pets and birds, cover and turn off fish aquariums before spraying. Turn off airflow systems in aquariums. Cover waxed wood floors, waxed furniture, and stereo with plastic dust covers in the immediate area surrounding the fogger. (Newspaper may be used.)

2.   Close outside doors and windows. Shut off fans and air conditioners.

3.   Extinguish all flames and lights. Call your gas utility or management company if you need assistance. Do not use fogger in a cabinet or under a counter or table.

4.   Place a chair, table, or stand in the center of the room to be fogged. Cover with several layers of newspaper or paper towels.

5.   Bend tab on side of sprayer. Tilt sprayer away from face (container sprays straight up). Press down firmly on sprayer pad until it snaps into place.

6.   Set fogger on covered stand. Immediately leave treated area.

7.   Keep treated area closed for at least 4 hours.

8.   Before reoccupying the area, open all doors and windows and allow treated area to air for 30 minutes

Wow, it blew the bricks (or brick-like exterior) off the building.  Impressive.  Imagine being a neighbor sitting on the crapper or at the reloading table when that happened.
