9 mm short? is that a .380acp?

A friend has a gun, a Beretta Cheetah which he claims has 9mm short
stamped on the side but his magazine says .380.

Are they the same thing? I've never heard of it.

He has been shooting .380 through it but says it isn't accurate.

Same thing, also called 9mm Kurz or 9x17

Yup.  Same cartridge.  I've heard a few other names, but it's usually called .380.  I seem to recall a PPK in 9mm Kurz (kurtz?), which is just short in German.

I don't know if that gun is blowback, but usually blowback guns (which covers most .380s) are pretty accurate.

If it's not accurate, ask him if he's using WWB. Because that isn't accurate.
