Mark your calendars, a movie event worth the time (IMO)
« on: January 19, 2009, 06:10:34 PM »
It will be on HBO. If you don't have HBO, go to your neighbors, go to a hotel for the night, or pop for HBO for a month.

This looks like it will be one of the best movies to come down the pike in quite a while.

Ah hell the trailer made me cry.  Not sure I can handle watching the whole thing.

I am sure I will be blubbering like a baby watching it. I will probably never be able to watch anything like that without the tears.

My monitor is blurry.

One of the reasons I subscribe to HBO is because they sponsor and show films like this film and in essence go against some of the other television media outlets agendas.

Should I know this PFC Phelps?

Nope.  Just another fallen Marine from an anonymous small town.

Ughh, I don't know if I can handle watching that, but I will.

It will remind me too much of our adopted son's funeral.  We knew him since he was 8.  He died a few months ago of his own taking.  It was too much for him to handle after his 2nd trip from Iraq and he decided to end his pain on his own.

Sgt Lopez is the man on the right.

His return home.

Sorry for your loss, Lennyjoe.

The Black Dog is a terrible enemy and one that doesn't give up easily. Him and I are in an eternal struggle. Some days are better than others. But I am resolved to fight on. I am sorry Sgt. Lopez couldn't see it was worth fighting for those that would be left behind. I will pray for him and you and yours.

"I don’t think anything can prepare you for two young men standing in the living room telling you your son’s been killed,” Mack said. “It’s just surreal. They were crying."

I don't have any real comment other than Semper Fi and Godspeed, Marine.

If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I don't know if I could watch it.  Every funeral I attended, it tore my guts out.   Each and every time when I looked into the eyes of a wife, child or parent of a fellow soldier, I'd see "Why are you alive and he's dead?   He had so much ahead of him.  Why him?"   Worse, none of them said it or probably even thought it.  They'd always be so nice and polite.  Most of the time, they'd end up trying to make us feel better...
"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.
